Our Mission

Young Performers Camp (YPC) fosters new generations of actors and audiences by producing full-length, main-stage productions, while providing theater education encompassing creativity, team building, lifelong confidence, and a passion for theater.

Lakewood Theater and the program of YPC are inclusive of all backgrounds, races, genders, and lifestyles. The theater has a diverse group of individuals that work, volunteer, and act – forever adding to the rich and wonderful community of people working together to support and nurture their common love of theater and the arts.

The YPC Scholarship provides an opportunity for underserved youth; the immersive theater experience, focusing on principles in communication, teamwork and collaboration, creative thinking and problem solving, as well as confidence and empathy.

Funding

YPC is committed to providing a comprehensive theater education and summer camp experience to the youth of our surrounding communities, regardless of their ability to pay. Generous local business sponsors provide funding each season to support the efforts of YPC and its scholarship program. YPC’s full and partial scholarships are awarded to students with a strong interest and past involvement (if applicable) in the theater, a promising talent, those involved in current activities that further foster their passion for the performing arts, and qualifying financial need.
